Sunny Day

4 comments:

  1. So I tried to analyze where the sky fill was coming in...the reflection of the windows.
And the sun light was reflecting off the buildings and some of the shadows.

All I could finish in a hour was blocking.
I'm trying to simplify and work faster but I have think I still need to analyze the color better especially in the shadows.
The perspective was a little easier because it was straight on and I was using the photoshop tools. Like you mentioned in your last email.
Should I block out like this in natural environment paintings?

Thanks for all your words of wisdom...as always!

  2. Ha this one is awesome! Colors are pretty good. Watch the shadow areas of the orange houses. You chose the same shadow color for the whole shadow area. But different colors have also different shadow colors. If you squint your eyes you can see that the orange is way darker than the yellow house.

There is really no rule on how you paint. It's all up to you. I don't want to be too specific about ways to approach things. I like to use the lasso tool for simple shapes like the light house for example. You get clean lines very easily. That's all.

  3. btw are you numbering your paintings?

If not you should. Something like

    sp_0001_title.jpg

That way you keep track on how many you've done and when you look back you have them all in a chronological order.

  4. I just started to go back to numbering the paintings.
I have to update a few to put them numerical order.

Thanks for the notes on the orange shadows.
