Water Jug

5 comments:

  1. I had still life reference for this painting.
But I tried to focus more on the diagram and how the lighting
    would hit the water jug.

I did go peek at the still life ref though.
I don't think I would have guessed the handle shadows on the wall.

  3. pss. first light source was from the ceiling light and the second light source is from the window in another room.

  4. It's much better with natural colors. Is the water jug supposed to be transparent or white?
As I said before, you need to pick simpler objects. Anything round with handles and curves is very very hard to paint. You should pick objects that are rectangular Or with right angles.
Charis, chelves, rooms, newspaper box, buildings, rectangle lamps anything you can think of but stay away from curved objects for now.
Also think about making your setting interesting instead of doing the same setting over and over again. That will also help you to be more motivated and improve faster.

But you are definitely on the right path with those last two approaches.
    Keep going.

  5. The jug was supposed to be white.
Does the jug look too flat?

I'll stick with the simpler objects next time and try a different angle.
I guess I was sticking with a composition that I was familiar with...a little safer.
    But I'll try different setting.
