even here I see improvements in the use of light. I like how you put her left leg in shadow. I bet you wouldn't have done that before doing all those exercises. I think you could definitely push the contrast between the highlight and shadow side but it's going into the right direction.
Also for illustrations it's good to put things in context. Where are you with the dog. Is it on the street maybe place yourself on the road with street signs. Can be very abstract and simple. But it gives the illustration more of a story.

Yeah, I don't think I'd think about the direction of light before the exercises.
