Red Rocket

  1. You can leave out certain details like the fence and the grass etc. But you can't leave out essential elements that make the picture read.
When I look at your painting I cannot guess what the rocket is standing on.
It looks like the ground plane is missing and the rocket is floating.
Also the bushes are casting a shadow towards us even if the sun is to the left behind us. They don't seem like they are touching the ground either.
Do the same as if you would tackle a painting without reference. Break down the light situation and try to understand what is happening in the picutre. That will make it easier for you to paint from reference too.

  2. I thought about doing the ground but then left it alone. =)
Next time I'll make sure the painting looks more real before leaving things out.

I didn't focus too much on the bushes the rocket was my main focus but next time I'll
add those other elements in especially the ground.

    Thanks!
