I thought that the Parrot was turning away from the light. So you'd only see the edges of the bird highlighted. I didn't have time to do details. It's pretty rough. Thanks for taking the time!
watch the atmospheric perspective. If you look at the reference and squint your eyes you'll notice that the trees in the background are much higher in value and lower in contrast. The atmosphere makes the background fall back and creates the illusion of depth. Also don't forget to think about scale. According to the leaf sizes this bird is ginormous. Also sine the sunlight is filtered through atmosphere and clouds the highlights of the bird won't get as warm. It would stay a much cooler red.
